Planmeca Romexis: Open a CBCT Scan in Viewer
Open a Planmeca scan using the manufacturer’s Romexis Viewer instructions, including the launcher, DICOMDIR import and 3D views.
Planmeca’s manufacturer manual documents Romexis Viewer for opening images supplied by a practice. This guide follows revision 5, released in March 2024; we have not tested these steps on a patient export. Ask your clinic for the scan files and report, not just a picture of the jaw. Menu labels can differ in other versions.
Start with the supplied media folder
Open the Romexis Viewer media folder. The manual names Romexis_Viewer_Win.exe for Windows and Romexis_Viewer_OS_X.app for Mac. Launch the matching application and select the interface language. Only run software supplied by a trusted clinic or downloaded from Planmeca. A phone cannot run these desktop applications; ask for a DICOM copy if you need another viewing option.
Select the patient in Viewer Launcher
When the practice exports Viewer together with an image, the patient appears in the launcher. Otherwise, use Add images to locate a .dcm or DICOMDIR file, or drag the image into the list. Select one patient and choose Start Viewer. The manual limits supported DICOM images to those captured by Planmeca equipment or exported from Romexis desktop software.
Import a DICOMDIR and enter the 3D module
For a separate image directory, use DICOMDIR Open, browse to DICOMDIR, select the image and click Import. The 3D toolbar refers to this same import procedure. In the 3D module, Explorer, Panoramic, Implants, TMJ and Surface offer different views. A saved 2D snapshot is only one view of the volume; keep the original scan folder intact.
If the scan does not appear
Check with the clinic that you received the intended examination and its complete image files. Send a description of the error through the clinic’s approved contact channel; do not post files containing patient details publicly. Ask the clinic to check its export before considering another scan. These instructions help you access a copy of your records. They do not diagnose disease or replace a dentist’s interpretation.
